Hand carved in Kenya from ebony wood, these wooden fertility doll statues are replicas of the Ashanti fertility dolls in Ghana. The Ashanti people of West Africa attribute a special beauty to round faces. Theses statues and or figures became symbols of fertility for women during childbirth. Women trying to conceive would wear them throughout their daily routine. The dolls have come to represent good luck and a beautiful piece of hand-crafted African artwork.

This pair depicts a male and a female. 4" to 5" tall

Please note due to the handmade nature, patterns will vary slightly from the image. Every one is different and unique.
