What is Hematite?

Hematite is a natural substance made from iron ore. When polished it has a black grey sheen, which is very attractive. For many years it has been used for making jewelry which can be used for many different occasions. It does not look out of place with evening wear or casual clothes. It has known favor amongst royalty since Egyptian and Greek days. Named after the Greek "haima" for blood, it will streak red when rubbed against a harder substance. When faceted, known as a "black diamond." Many people believe it has properties which give the wearer a feeling of well-being or optimism and relieve stress. Others believe it can also help people who suffer from arthritis.
