Antique Chinese Cash Coin Necklace
This necklace features an antique Chinese cash coin measuring 1.18 inches suspended from a 24-inch antique brass chain. The total length of the necklace is 25 inches.
Cash coins, a type of Chinese currency used for over two millennia, were widely circulated during the Song dynasty. The Northern Song introduced sophisticated denominations and calligraphic inscriptions, with coins remaining legal tender into the 20th century. The Southern Song favored cheaper iron cash coins. Their square holes enabled them to be strung together into strings, a currency unit across East Asia.
Please note that due to their age of hundreds of years, these antique cash coins exhibit natural aging and wear. Each coin is unique, so variations should be expected. The actual coin may differ from the image shown due to the patina and condition resulting from its age.
The necklace will be packaged in a linen bag.
