This choker necklace features an antique Chinese cash coin suspended from a light brown suede cord. The coin measures 1.18 inches and hangs from a 16-18 inch cord with a silver lobster claw clasp and 2-inch extender chain.

Cash coins, a type of Chinese currency used for over two millennia, were widely circulated during the Song dynasty. The Northern Song introduced sophisticated denominations and calligraphic inscriptions, with coins remaining legal tender into the 20th century. The Southern Song favored cheaper iron cash coins. Their square holes enabled them to be strung together into strings, a currency unit across East Asia.
