These unique wooden hand painted fertility doll statues were hand carved in Kenya. They are replicas of traditional Ashanti fertility dolls from Ghana. The Ashanti people of West Africa valued round faces as a sign of beauty. Theses statues and or figures became symbols of fertility for women during childbirth. Women trying to conceive would wear them throughout their daily routine. The dolls have come to represent good luck and a beautiful piece of hand-crafted African artwork.
This pair depicts a male and female figure. Each statue stands 4 to 5 inches tall.
Please note that due to their handmade nature, the patterns may vary slightly from the images shown. Every statue is unique.
They were created through fair trade practices in Kenya. Supporting these crafts helps preserve traditional village handicrafts and ensure they can be enjoyed by future generations.
